Do you want to avoid the wait and download, then install Windows 10 22H2 update manually? This guide shows you various methods to do that. Before you can install the latest Windows 10 update manually, you need enough free space on your PC. So, I’ll start this guide by showing you how to check that…

Hi. When clicking through your site’s process to update, AND researching on the internet for 2H22 usually says “Windows 11”. So, is 2H22 = Win 11?
Only one place said “Windows 10 2H22 Update”.
So, does this update keep me in Win10 or upgrade to Win11?

Note: My PC currently operates with Win 10 21H1. Does the 2H22 update erase my PC? And if the update is an upgrade to Win11, does it erase the PC?

Thank you!

Hi @lillian,

Thank you for posting your question. There is a Windows update 2H22 for Windows 10 and for Windows 11.

Since your PC currently runs Win 10 21H1, you should follow the steps in this guide - How To Download And Install Windows 10 22H2 Update Manually (itechguides.com) - to update your Windows 10 from Win 10 21H1 to Win 10 22H2.

Regarding your question re: And if the update is an upgrade to Win11, does it erase the PC?

The Windows 10 22H2 update DOES NOT upgrade your PC to Windows 11, so it does not erase your PC.

Thank you, VictorAs for being available here.
So phew, I don’t lose data with the new update.
Happy Holidays.

Hi @lillian I am glad you were able to update your PC without losing data! Happy Holidays.

Hello Victor, You may know this but I think there is a little error under the Media Creation Tool instruction. Check this:

“When you perform step 9 below, you’ll not be able to use your computer until the installation is completed. So, save your work before you proceed.”
" 9. Finally, Windows 10 Setup will be ready to install Windows 10 20H2 update manually. Confirm that you’re happy with the options. If you do not want to keep your personal files, click Change what to keep and select a different option. "

By the way, my PC would not update via the 1st method. Received a notice about needing to run a “debugger”. But the debugger led to error. Couldn’t get it to work.
So not sure what that was about. The PC is less than a year old. (plenty of GBs too)
But this led me to Method 2.
Thanks again!

Hi @lillian,

I am glad that the second method worked for you! This is why we provide multiple methods of performing tasks in our guides.

Regarding the error you pointed out, I have re-read those sentences, and it appears to be okay.

Would you be kind enough to point out what you believe is an error there - I would sincerely appreciate it!

Thanks again.

I think you mean " 22H2"?

9. Finally, Windows 10 Setup will be ready to install Windows 10 20H2 update

(I read so many involved policies in my work, and sometimes translating in writing for others, and I’m up to re-reading 4-5 times or more (taking a break in-between) to make sure I’m comprehending every item. It can be a challenge.)
Very best and good holidays!

Amazing, @lillian! I totally missed that. Thank you for pointing it out. I have fixed the mistake.
